reality catching up on a dream

I woke up early sunday morning, checked my email, checked on the nba schedule then typed in "inquirer.net". The browser window refreshed its content and in a matter of seconds the big bold words "Gawad Kalinga Goes Worldwide" were displayed on screen. I clicked on the front page image link and there it was-Gawad Kalinga is the headline of the Philippines' most read daily. The timing was perfect. It was the anniversary of the original people power, the bloodless revolution that introduced us to the world. And just like People Power, Gawad Kalinga may one day inspire other nations to follow the unbeaten track of attacking head on injustice and poverty.



MANILA, Philippines -- Hope and a better life are the latest Filipino exports. Poor as it is, the Philippines would not be left behind in the sharing department.

Gawad Kalinga (GK), the highly successful housing and development project for the poor, is going global to improve the lives of the countless poor in other countries. This major step means familiar GK key people will have to be moved and new faces will emerge. That is all there is to it.
